Banana’s Dinner Rolls
Ingredients
- 2 Eggs
- 2 lbs All-Purpose Flour
- 1 Cup Vegetable Oil
- 1¼ Cup Water warmed
- ¼ Cup Water warmed
- ¼ oz Active Dry Yeast 1 package
- 2 Pinches of Salt
- 1 Pinch of Salt
- 4-6 Pinches of Sugar
- 2 Pinches of Sugar
- Flour for surface
- 1 stick of Butter
Instructions
- In a small bowl, beat 2 eggs together with 1 pinch of salt and 2 pinches of sugar. Pour in ¼cup of warm water, yeast, and mix for 1 minute. Place bowl in a warm location to sit for 15-20 minutes (best place is 12 inches from a stove burner on low if electric).
- In a large pot or bowl, mix together 2lbs flour, 4-6 pinches of sugar, and 2 pinches of salt by hand. Mix in 1¼cup warm water, vegetable oil, yeast, and mix thoroughly by hand.
- Lightly flour a clean surface for kneading. Remove dough from pot/bowl and sprinkle 1 pinch of flour over dough. Knead dough by folding and pressing dough continuously until smooth. Pinch a piece of dough and taste. If dough needs more sugar or salt, sprinkle pinches over dough and begin to knead again. Repeat taste testing until satisfied.
- Oil same pot/bowl and place dough inside. Rub a little more oil on top of dough and cover with cloth or towel. Place pot/bowl in a warm place to allow dough to rise for 2½ hours.
- Flour surface again and grease baking pans. Remove dough from pot/bowl and knead again for 1 minute. Squeeze even handfuls of dough and roll into 3 inch smooth oval shaped balls with hands. Top should be smooth with no cracks and place ball in baking pan. When baking pans are filled, cover with cloth or towel and place in a warm area to allow rolls to rise for 45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake rolls until tops start to turn brown (roughly 10-20 minutes depending on type of oven). Let stick of butter sit on stove to allow it to soften.
- Remove rolls from oven and rub tops with butter. Flip rolls out of pan onto a piece of parchment paper. Place rolls upright and cover with cloth or towel for 2-3 minutes to sweat.
- Enjoy!
