Cheesesteak Poppers
Ingredients
- Chicken Tenderloins
- Cheese sliced
- 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1/4 cup Water
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1½ tbsp Black Pepper
- 1 tbsp Seasoned Salt
- Ketchup + Mayonnaise for dipping
- Vegetable Oil for frying
Instructions
- Dice chicken.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, pour in olive oil and spread around. Add in chicken to begin cooking. Pour in pepper, season salt, and move chicken around as it begins to turn white for 3 minutes. Use two forks and begin pulling chicken pieces apart. Once all pieces are pulled apart, remove chicken from heat.
- Heat oil in medium sauce pot to 300℉.
- In a small bowl, add water to flour and mix until smooth. This will create a glue like substance.
- Cut all tortillas in half down the middle. Cut all slices of cheese in half diagonally creating cheese triangles. Lay 1 tortilla half on flat surface horizontally. Place one cheese triangle in middle of tortilla with the point facing down. This will form 3 triangles you will see. (1 cheese triangle and 2 open tortilla triangles). Using a brush or spoon apply glue flour mix to the right-side open tortilla triangle. Pickup tortilla half an fold the left-side open tortilla triangle over the cheese triangle, followed by folding the right-side tortilla triangle over the left and press the folds firmly to allow glue flour mix to hold. This will now form a cone-like tortilla.
- Open the top of the cone and pack with a 2-4 pieces of chicken. Do not fill all the way to the brim of cone. Allow some space to close the top of the cone. Brush glue flour mix around the inside of the brim of the cone. Squeeze and close the top of cone. Apply more glue flour mix if need be.
- In small bowl mix together equal amount of ketchup and mayonnaise to desire.
- Place poppers in oil to fry for 7-10 minutes on each side. Poppers should become golden brown before removing. It is okay if some cheese oozes out in some crevasses. Remove from oil and place in paper-towel lined plate or bowl to allow to drain.
- Dip and enjoy!
