Boortsog (Mongolian Cookie/Fried Dough)
Ingredients
- 4 Cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1½ Cups Warm Water
- 7 Oz Sweetened Condensed Milk
- ½ Of Active Dry Yeast Package 1⅛ tsp
- ½ Of Vanilla Sugar Package
- ¼ Cup Sugar
- ½ Cup Butter unsalted
- ½ Tsp Baking Powder
- Pinch Of Salt
- Vegetable Oil for frying
Instructions
- Combine in a medium sized bowl, condensed milk, yeast, butter, and warm water. Stir until everything is dissolved in the water.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, sugar, vanilla sugar, and baking powder.
- Pour wet bowl into dry and mix well. Dough should become soft and not runny.
- Rest dough in a warm are for 1-2 hours.
- Heat frying oil in a large fryer or pan. Cut and roll dough into desired shapes: balls, twist, rectangles, etc.
- Deep fry until both sides are bright golden and remove to a paper towel lined baking sheet.
