Chakalaka (South African Relish) Print Recipe Pin Recipe Prep Time 10 minutes minsCook Time 10 minutes minsTotal Time 20 minutes mins Course Dinner, Side Dish Ingredients 3 tbsp Oil1 Red Onion finely chopped3 cloves Minced Garlic½ inch Ginger grated2 tsp Curry Powder1 Red Bell Pepper chopped1 Green Bell Pepper chopped4 Carrots medium size peeled + grated14 oz Canned Diced TomatoesSalt and Pepper to taste¼-½ tsp Red Chili Flakes15 oz Baked Beans in Tomato Sauce Instructions Heat the oil in a large pan, over medium heat. Add the onions and sauté them until they become translucent.Stir in the minced garlic, ginger, and curry powder and cook for another one minute.Add the grated carrots, chopped green and red pepper, and mix well and cook for 3 to 5 minutes.Add the diced tomatoes, red chili flakes and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir to combine, cover, and cook over low heat for about 5 to 10 mins or till the mixture is thick but still moist. Stir occasionally to prevent the vegetables from sticking to the pan.Stir in the baked beans and leave to simmer for another 5 minutes.Serve warm with bread, rice, or grilled meat.Enjoy!
