Regardless of how you found it, we’re just glad that you did! No long, drawn out story– we just hope you enjoy!
Pahut (Cambodian Fish Cakes)
Ingredients
- 1 lb White Fish Fillet we used Cod
- 3 cloves Minced Garlic
- 3 Scallions chopped
- 4 tbsp Lemongrass chopped or paste
- 2 tbsp Fish Sauce
- 1 tsp Sugar
- ¼ tsp Black Pepper
- 2 Hot Red Peppers chopped or more to taste
- 1 teaspoon Prahok (Fish Paste) we used anchovy paste
- 1 cup Vegetable Oil
Instructions
- In a food processor, mix fish, garlic, and scallions.
- Add the lemongrass, fish sauce, sugar, black pepper, chili, prahok, and 1 tablespoon oil to this mixture.
- Take about a tablespoon of mix and form a small patty and repeat this process.
- Place the patties on a sheet of parchment paper.
- Heat a frying pan or wok over medium-high heat.
- When the pan is hot, add the remaining oil and fry the fish patties until they are cooked and browned on both sides.
- Serve with steamed white rice or as an appetizer.
