Ingredients

  • 4 cups Bread Flour
  • 2 cups Water warmed
  • cups Water warmed
  • ¼ cup Baking Soda
  • 4 tbsp Sugar
  • tsp Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • Water in a small bowl
  • Butter melted
  • Kosher Salt course

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine sugar, yeast, and salt in 1½ cup of warm water for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in flour and knead dough until smooth and elastic.
  • Place dough in another bowl that is well oiled and cover with cloth to let it rise for 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 425°F.
  • Lightly flour a clean flat surface. Place dough on surface and begin to pat down to flatten and then cut dough into 12 even pieces.
  • Clean up flour from surface and wipe down with a damp cloth or paper towel. This will create a moist surface to roll dough. Keep a small bowl of water near to make sure hands stay moist.
  • Roll each piece starting in the middle and working outward into long rope about ¾ inch diameter. Cut rope into small bite size pieces.
  • Combine baking soda and 2 cups of warm water into a small bowl to dissolve.
  • Dip dough pieces into baking soda solution and place pieces on a greased cookie sheet.
  • Sprinkle kosher salt over each piece and bake for 7-8 minutes until golden brown.
  • Remove pretzels from oven and dip each pretzel in melted butter and enjoy!
